Which is best?
(1) "When you decide to no longer use your PC"
(2) "When you decide no longer to use your PC"
(3) "When you decide to use your PC no longer"

Posted by: Guy at February 2, 2006 6:54 AM | Permalink to CommentI thought (1) at first, then (3) to be safe about the split infinitive nonsense, but ended up using (2), with my though being that "no longer" functioned in the same way as "not".

kind of leaves you in suspense until the very end of the sentence as to what it is you are no longer going to do. i realize the first sentence does as well, but i think keeping "to use" together gave it more kick.
now to vaccum up all these split hairs.
