Ah brilliant Tom. Brought a tear to my eye that did. Bit of nostalgia on your site recently.
I might ask you to do me a copy of the original, if its ok, for when I come in December?
I wonder what those other guys are all up to? I remember Kai on the left being a fast winger and skilful too. The guy in the midle crouching was the one who organised the collection for my leaving football shirt. I think that must be taken in 1999 though as the tall bald guy at the back arrived then I think. And your mate Scotty too.
The bus journeys back to Koiwa station were amusing - four or five sweating gaijin towering over all the little old ladies on their way to shop. I also rememebr losing to a group of young Japanese kids who battered us. Your midfield strength came to nothing that day pal.
Holy SH%T!!!
a friend sent this link too me the other day asking if indeed that was me sitting on the right. i couldn't believe it myself. Really does bring back some memories. mostly of arguing with the groudskeeper who seemed to be lurking in the bushes waiting for our arrival only to spring out and demand to see our reservation form. what a dick!
can't speak for many, but i am still in tokyo teaching. big alex in the back is also. Kei on the left is a personal fitness trainer (i played footsal with him just last week).
i think this photo is quite an early one but couldn't say for sure... surprised neil isn't in the photo.
by the way, whose page is this? tom's?
hope everyone is well! always enjoyed those games emmensely!

It is surprising Neil wasn't in it. And now that you mention it, I remember that groundsman clearly too. Enforcing the rules when there was no need to at all...With hindsight, nothing unusual about that. To update on the people I know, Olly and Scott are both living in Australia, Herb is (I think) in Canada, and Pat is a high-profile consultant type in Brussels!
Pat, the fellow who did the collection for your shirt was called Keisuke, wasn't he? A real genuine kind of character.

In case you can't remember which one I am, I'm just behind Olly trying to rob his phone. I'm working in Brussels now as Tom said but have been back to Japan at least once or twice a year on average since leaving in 1999. By the way is Alex still seeing the kogyal type that he was in late '99? I remember her as he brought her to my leaving party.
Tom, I think it was Keisuke but not sure but he was certainly a very genuine lad.

Posted by: Setsunai at September 21, 2005 10:16 AM | Permalink to Commenteveryone seems to be coming out of the woodwork. we might have to organise a reunion game!!! tom, can you go down to the katsushika ward office and book us the ground?
the guy to the left of alex is mark. not sure where he's at these days... last i heard he was working at disney but that was a while back. he could be anywhere now.
the guy who took the collection for pat's shirt was the drummer in neil's band (not that neil was the lead or anything).
so, pat, what kind of consultant are you in brussels? tom, where are you hangin' your hat? nice photos by the way!
Posted by: myles at September 22, 2005 2:01 AM | Permalink to CommentCheers Myles. Moved into the center a few years back, and switched to a regular working schedule somewhere along the way. Having Friday mornings to play football seems like a dream these days! Maybe Olly will fly back from Australia and book the ground!
