Crouch and Owen

Seven million for Peter Crouch but Liverpool are not in the market for Michael Owen, despite having first option.

I hope the faith in Morientes and Cisse pays off. If not, the euphoria and reverence felt now among Liverpool fans will be quickly replaced by other contagious emotions.

With Houllier, people look back to a substitution as the point it all went wrong, when he took off Hamann against Leverkusen. If next season shows the Champions League win to be a blip—i.e. Liverpool finish fourth or so in the Premiership and do not win the Champions League (a likely scenario in a season of rebuilding)—it's not hard to see a point in the future when the knives comes out, or what moment they'll choose as when it went wrong for Benitez.

It cannot be surprising that Benitez is not making a move for Owen seeing how easily he was prepared to let him go only last year.

I just wonder what PL team he will end up at.

Arsenal have indicated that they are not interested.

ManUtd exec Gill has indicated that funds are available but with Rooney, VNistelrooy, Saha, Smith etc it makes you wonder if there is a place for him.

If Real don't want him as appears to be the case, surely a cheeky loan offer would be considered from one of the "lesser" clubs?

Tom, did you get the emails I sent for our Fantasy football League? Hurry up and get yer team in!

Owen did not have a good final few seasons at Liverpool. He would always be injured for a third of the season, miss many chances in the second third and then in the last third finally score goals. If that record would continue then returning him to Anfield would not be a good investment. He decided to leave Liverpool for
¡guaranteed` success therefore a similar move could not be ruled out if he felt that Liverpool were not moving as quickly as he wished. Disloyal and injury prone with a great scoring instinct - at times. Not worth it in my opinion.

Mick, I'm onto it. Pat, I see what you're saying but I don't buy the whole loyalty thing in today's game, or at least don't buy that it only applies to players. Anyway, sounds like he might be coming back.

Can't rely on player loyalties anymore for sure! Look at Sol Campbell and it could be interesting to see what Ferdinand does to ManUtd ( a team who paid his salary for nearly 8 months while he was suspended)

I'd actually love to see him back, better than anything we've got at the moment. And I don't blame him for leaving for Madrid last year at all. I think he deserved a shot at the big time after carrying us sometimes single handedly for the Houllier years - yes hindsight etc, but who saw that coming!

So there!
