Thoughts at Half Time of Liverpool vs. Leverkusen

Worry, Worry, Worry, Ecstasy, Worry, Agony, Satisfaction, Relief, Worry.

Worry after we scored the first that they would equalize. Worry after we scored the second that they would get one back. Ecstasy after Hamann scored the third. Immediately replaced by worry that we would somehow mess up in the dying seconds. We did. Agony. Satisfaction (albeit tarnished--think of somebody spitting on your ideal birthday cake) with a two goal lead to take to Germany. Mature reflection about all the chances they had. Our defending was dire. We could have lost. We deserve to be ahead but we could have lost. Relief. Worry about the second leg.

Why do I bother? Where is the enjoyment in this?

-----------------

Once the eternal spluttering Skoda, Igor Biscan cruised the midfield like a high-end German automobile last night. Such acceleration, durability and finesse (what a pass!) should really be enough to get him picked for the Carling Cup Final. (He won't be, of course.) Igor, forgive me. I take it all back.

We played pretty well. They didn't but still missed a few sitters. Score should have been about 5-3.
Dudek is an absolute clown and I'd rather play spot keeper like when I was a kid than have a designated keeper such as him. The guy is an absolute beaut and should not be allowed anywhere near the city of Liverpool.
Having said that we did win 3-1; sets it up for the second leg where I'll be there supporting Liverpool in a muted fashion with the Deutschlanders.

Dudek made two decent saves and let in a howler, stuff he seems to do in every game. Two decent saves and a howler isn't good enough.

I'm very envious of you being there for the return leg. You're in with the away fans again, I take it. You should rent out the Great Dictator with Charlie Chaplin to learn how to pretend to be a German. Apparently, you just say "schmitzel" a lot.

Why bother?
I guess for that fleeting moment of ecstacy and a slight unacknowledged belief that you may win the champions league.
Much like the same belief that Saints might beat Arsenal today(?????)
