Call Me

I've been starting every day with Al Green's Call Me recently. I haven't been as stuck on the one album since I first heard Nick Cave's only album with real heart, The Boatman's Call, back in 1997.

Call Me was chosen by Rolling Stone Magazine as the 289th best album of all time, but I think it's much, much better than that. This is one of those albums that lifts the soul. And that's as far as I'm prepared to go with the music cliches.

I haven't got past "Live at Desert Storm 1994 mix ruff jungle album" yet so I have no idea who Al Green is. I reckon I need to start again with my music tastes. Happy Hardcore was fine 10 years ago but all the rave tapes I bought then either don't work or you need an (obsolete) walkman to play them. Apparently the Beatles are quite good.

I wanted to get into house and techno and all the rest, but I never could. I need lyrics too.

What era is that from Tom? Must give it a whirl. Heard a song off his recent album and it also tickles the soul in wondrous ways. Can't remember the name of the track, just the tickling and the sweet sound.

It's seventies, I think, Speedy, and I'm sure you'd like it. Anything to recommend of late yourself?
